The story of the band 'Indian Ocean'.

The story of the band 'Indian Ocean'.

Indian Ocean is currently one of the oldest and best bands from India. The original line up which consisted of Susmit Sen, Rahul Ram, Asheem Chakraborty and Amit Kilam struggled a lot in their initial days. They did only 7 concerts in their first 5 years. The struggle lasted for 9 years. Even after releasing a successful first album in year 1993 most of the recording labels didn't agree to sign them as they believed that the kind of music they do won't attract people. One of the labels even said that their first album was a fluke and the second one would definitely be a flop. They practically made no money in their initial days. Susmit Sen had a job where he had to deal with worst cassette dealers and had to face their abuses daily along with a boss from hell. He received his first salary when his wife was seven months pregnant. Despite being a PhD holder in Environmental Toxicology from the prestigious Cornell University, Rahul Ram did not search for a job and followed his passion. Asheem Chakraborty left a high paying job just to follow his heart. They used to practice every night till 4 A.M despite having a busy day. Nobody ever believed that they would ever succeed but their belief in themselves led them to success. This is certainly one of the 'not so famous' success stories I've ever heard.
